MILO MEACHAM / ARCHITECT 

New Engineering Building - VPI & State University, Blacksburg, Virginia:

 

Mr. Meacham served as Associate Partner in Charge of Design for SOM for this project which was done in collaboration with Shriver & Holland Architects who served as Architect of Record.

 

The building primarily houses highly sensitive electronic engineering laboratories as well as faculty and staff offices and support facilities.

 

The building is sited at one of the primary entrances to the campus.  The curving form provides a welcoming gesture to define a portal at this place on the campus.

 

The building is clad in "Hokie Stone" (a limestone quarried on the VPI Campus), limestone finished architectural precast concrete and high performance, low-emissivity glass.
